Controlling Content in Schools & Universities

One of the major challenges of managing a large network of digital signs is controlling the content, especially in education facilities.

It is said in the industry that to control and manage content efficiently you have to meet the following requirements:

Broadcasting – Sending global content to all locations
Narrowcasting – Regional content published to regional locations
Target Casting – location specific content published to individual location

Now you have to understand how to bring them all together, the most effective (and easiest) method is to use an editor. With the editor, you create a play list this includes all the media formats you are using Jpeg, TIFF, MPEG, etc. These files can be played individually or overlapped and played in layers.

Some editors give you 2 screens, one is how the ads look and below how they are overlapped or layered very similar to Windows Movie maker.

Now one of the major responsibilities falls to the network manager, as they will be responsible for error reporting, scheduling of the media content delivery, this too is simply based on data network connectivity.

Some campuses have integrated Twitter feeds meaning that Web 2.0 is in its infancy with digital signage but in the education sector, this is were it will bear the greatest fruit as the students will be already users of Twitter, Facebook and Flickr.

Some digital signage software companies are developing software that allows the consumer to interact using their mobile or cell phones. Who knows a teenager who doesn’t have a mobile phone?

LCD Enclosure Global are the worlds leading manufacturer of LCD enclosure, these units are supplied to the top digital signage installers throughout America, Australia, Europe and the UK. They have also launched a video wall at a cost effective price.
